CELEBRATING IMPACT

AAAF Celebrates 5 Years

Celebrating 5 Years of Impact: The African American Alliance Fund

June 19 (Juneteenth), 2025 marks a significant milestone for the African American Alliance Fund (AAAF) at the Orange County Community Foundation. Founded by our visionary President Tammy Tumbling on Juneteenth 2020, the Fund’s mission is clear: to raise awareness about systemic racism and support programs that uplift Black residents within Orange County and surrounding communities.

In five short years, the AAAF has made an indelible impact through $1 million in granting to 81 partner nonprofits, reaching more than 33,000 individuals through programs in our region, across the country and around the world.

As we celebrate the African American Alliance Fund’s 5th anniversary, we look ahead with excitement and determination to create even more impact in the years ahead. The African American Alliance Fund remains committed to empowering our community partners and fostering positive change, and we invite you to join us in this mission.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

2025 Legacy Event (1)

A Memorable Evening with Harmon Kong at The Heart of Legacy

Recently, we had the privilege of hosting The Heart of Legacy: Family Values & Purpose, an engaging program designed to inspire individuals and families to embrace the joy of giving and the lasting impact they can create through philanthropy.

The evening’s keynote speaker Harmon Kong—author of Values Over Valuables and founding partner of Apriem Advisors-- shared his profound wisdom and expertise. Kong delivered an inspiring and deeply personal talk about passing down purpose—not just possessions. “Don’t just give your kids something to live on—give them something to live for,” he stated.

The event also included interactive discussions designed to help attendees identify and prioritize their core values. OCCF philanthropic advisors were present to guide conversations, offering expert advice on how philanthropy can be an integral part of legacy planning.
